What thread do most IBC totes use?
The large majority use a 2-inch S60×6 outlet — a 60 mm coarse buttress thread — paired with a 6-inch coarse-thread fill cap on top. Some brands use 9-inch or Mauser-style caps, so if you're unsure, send us a photo of the valve and lid and we'll confirm the exact match.
Can I put a standard garden hose on my IBC tote?
Yes — with the right adapter. The 2-inch S60×6 outlet steps down to a ¾-inch garden hose thread (GHT) so you can run a soaker, drip or standard garden hose for irrigation. We stock the adapter and the gasket it needs.
Should I choose an EPDM or Viton gasket?
EPDM is the standard seal and handles water, dilute acids and bases, alcohols and most aqueous solutions. Choose Viton (FKM) when the tote will hold fuels, oils, solvents or hydrocarbons. Tell us the chemistry and we'll match the elastomer.
My discharge valve leaks — do I need a whole new tote?
Almost never. A leaking valve or a tired gasket is the most common reason a tote is pulled from service, and both are inexpensive drop-in replacements on the S60×6 outlet. Swapping the valve is the cheapest, greenest upgrade you can make.
Do you sell cage and pallet repair parts separately?
Yes. We carry replacement pallet bases, feet, and cage repair sections so a structurally tired tote can be rebuilt to forkliftable, stackable condition rather than scrapped. If a bottle is cracked beyond saving, we route it to regrind through our recycling line.
What's the difference between a vented and a sealed cap?
A sealed 6-inch cap keeps contents closed for storage and transport. A vented cap has a valved breather that lets air in as liquid drains, so the bottle doesn't collapse or pour in glugs — useful for dispensing stations and gravity feeds.
