Know your grades

The right grade for the right job.

Not every application needs a new tote. Most don't. We help you match the lowest-impact, best-value option to your contents — and we never sell up when a reconditioned tote will do.

Grade A — Food Grade

Prior food-approved contents only, triple-rinsed and sanitized. For water, beverages and edible oils.

Grade B — Industrial

Washed totes for non-potable use: rainwater, brine, dust control, process water.

Rebottled

A brand-new HDPE bottle in a reused, inspected cage — new-tote cleanliness, reused steel.

First-Trip / New

Never-filled totes for the strictest sanitary or regulatory needs. UN/DOT rated.

Selection guide

Match the tote to the job, not the other way around.

The single biggest cost mistake we see is buying up — paying for a first-trip tote when a washed industrial unit would have done the same work for a third of the price and a fraction of the carbon. The difference between grades is rarely the plastic itself; both Grade A and Grade B bottles are blow-molded HDPE. What changes is the documented fill history and the cleaning validation. Use the guide below to land on the right grade fast, then confirm the exact prior contents with us before you order. Still weighing options? Our guides and FAQ go deeper.

Potable water & beverages

Grade A — Food Grade

Documented edible prior contents, triple-rinsed and sanitized. Finish with a fresh-water rinse before drinking use.

Rainwater & irrigation

Grade B — Industrial

A washed industrial tote is ideal for capture and garden watering — choose Grade A only if the water touches edible crops.

Edible oils & food production

Grade A or Rebottled

Where a sanitary bottle is non-negotiable, a rebottled tote gives new-bottle cleanliness on a reused, inspected cage.

Brine, de-icing & dust control

Grade B — Industrial

Rugged, non-potable storage at the lowest cost and footprint — exactly what a reused industrial tote is built for.

Regulated / hazmat transport

First-Trip / New

On-road hazardous liquids need a current UN 31HA1/Y marking within its retest interval — tell us the material first.

Aquaponics & process water

Grade A or B

Match the grade to whether your system touches anything edible; most reservoirs run perfectly on Grade B.

Stock & lead times

What we keep on hand, and how fast it moves.

Inventory turns constantly, so treat the windows below as typical rather than guaranteed — we confirm live availability with every quote. Dimensions follow the IBC standard: a 275-gallon (1040 L) tote is about 48 × 40 × 46 inches, a 330-gallon (1250 L) about 48 × 40 × 53 inches, and both share the same 48 × 40 inch pallet footprint so they rack and load identically.

Lead times & freight

Empty totes cube out before they weigh out.

That one fact drives your freight: it's the stack height and order size that fill the trailer, not the pounds. Order closer to a full pallet layer and your per-tote shipping cost drops sharply. We quote every load in writing through transport & logistics.

1–3 days

Typical local turnaround on in-stock grades.

Recurring & contract supply

Turn over totes? Run a closed loop with us.

If your operation cycles totes on a predictable rhythm, a standing program beats one-off ordering on every metric. We hold your preferred grade in reserve, prioritize your orders, and where it fits we deliver reconditioned totes and collect your empties on the same route — so one truck does two jobs. That single move cuts your freight, your cost per tote, and your procurement overhead at once, and it keeps a steady stream of containers in service instead of in a landfill.

Pair it with our buy-back program to put a price on the empties you return, and see the avoided impact add up on our sustainability page.

What a standing program includes

  • Reserved stock in your preferred grade & size
  • Priority scheduling ahead of spot orders
  • Same-route delivery + empty collection
  • Blended pricing on totes and buy-back
  • One written point of contact, by email
Our quality guarantee

Every tote earns its grade before it ships.

A reused tote should perform like new for the job it's graded for — and we stake our reputation on it. Here's what stands behind the unit on your dock.

Graded & labeled

Every tote ships tagged with its assigned grade and documented prior contents — no mystery fill histories.

Pressure & leak tested

100% of reconditioned bottles are checked for cracks, stress-whitening and valve-seal integrity before sale.

Honest grade matching

We never sell up. If a Grade B industrial tote will do the job, that's what we'll quote you.

Make-it-right promise

If a tote genuinely doesn't match what we quoted, email us and we'll correct it — all in writing.

Buying FAQ

Ordering totes from us, answered.

What's the minimum order — can I buy just one tote?
There's no hard minimum. We'll sell you a single tote and we regularly fill orders from one unit up to full truckloads. Because empty totes 'cube out' a truck before they weigh it out, freight is most economical per-tote at a pallet's worth or more — so if you're near a round number, it's worth asking.
How fast can I get totes once I order?
In-stock grades for Greater Boston often go out within one to three business days. Specific-history, rebottled or new orders depend on the wash line and sourcing. Tell us your timeline in the form and we'll confirm realistic availability before you commit.
Can I mix grades and sizes on one order?
Yes. A common order is a few Grade A food-grade 275s for one process plus several Grade B industrial 330s for bulk storage. We palletize and quote it as a single shipment with one freight figure.
Do you offer recurring or contract supply?
We do. If you turn over totes regularly we can hold your preferred grade, prioritize your orders, and run a closed loop — delivering reconditioned totes and collecting your empties on the same route. It cuts your freight, your cost per tote, and your procurement overhead.
How is freight priced?
Per order, by quantity and distance. Stacking and order size drive the per-tote cost more than weight, since empties cube out first. You'll get a written freight figure with your quote — no surprises at the dock. See transport & logistics for the full picture.
Can I pick the totes up myself?
Absolutely. Will-call pickup at our Somerville facility is welcome during business hours. Tell us your vehicle and we'll stage the right quantity and help you load safely.
